Mexican Key Lime is a compact, evergreen citrus tree prized for its small, intensely aromatic limes and classic tart flavor. Choose a full sun location with excellent drainage. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant at the same depth it was growing in its container. Backfill gently, firm the soil, and water thoroughly. Keep soil evenly moist during the first growing season. Apply mulch around the base to conserve moisture, keeping it away from the trunk. In cooler regions, plant in a protected spot or use containers.


Mexican Key Lime thrives in full sun and well-draining soil. Water regularly during establishment, then deeply but less frequently once established, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings. Fertilize during the growing season with a citrus-specific fertilizer. Prune lightly to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches. Protect from frost, as this lime is cold-sensitive.
